Development trends of pomegranate cultivation in the southern regions of Uzbekistan

Abstract

The article analyzes the development trends of pomegranate cultivation in the Surkhandarya and Kashkadarya regions for 2020-2024 and the factors influencing them. Although the area of pomegranate plantations has expanded, the gross harvest and yield have decreased. This is due to water shortages, climate change, an increase in the proportion of young pomegranate plantations, and insufficient use of modern agricultural technologies. To develop pomegranate cultivation, it is proposed to expand water-saving technologies, high-quality seedlings, storage and processing infrastructure, and export opportunities.
