The effect of planting scheme on phenological and biometric parameters for obtaining high yield from a promising Armenian cucumber variety

Abstract

The article presents the results of studies conducted in 2023-2024 under the central soil and climatic conditions of the Republic of Uzbekistan to determine the effect of different planting schemes on the growth and development of Armenian cucumber variety Azhur. Four planting schemes, (140+70)/2×30, (140+70)/2×40, (140+70)/2×50 and (140+70)/2×60 cm, were compared. The duration of the main phenological stages, major biometric characteristics of plants, and fruit length, diameter and weight were determined. The highest values were obtained with the (140+70)/2×60 cm planting scheme. Under this treatment, the main phenological stages occurred 3-5 days earlier than in the control, while the number of lateral shoots reached 8.3 per plant, the number of leaves 98.0, and the total length of the main stem and lateral shoots 493.0 cm. Fruit length was 21.5 cm, fruit diameter 4.1 cm, and fruit weight 224 g, which were 21.5%, 24.2% and 20.4% higher, respectively, than in the control. The results indicate that the (140+70)/2×60 cm planting scheme provides favorable conditions for vegetative development and improves the biometric characteristics of fruits of Armenian cucumber variety Azhur.
