Abstract

This article analyzes scientific studies on the botanical characteristics, history of research, geographical distribution, and bioecological features of Malva sylvestris L., commonly known as wood mallow, belonging to the family Malvaceae Juss. The analysis of the available literature established that Malva sylvestris L. is an accepted species in the modern taxonomic system, belonging to the family Malvaceae Juss. and the genus Malva L. Scientific studies have investigated the morphology, phenology, flowering and pollination biology, seed dormancy and germination characteristics, ecological adaptability, and ethnobotanical significance of the species. The analysis of the reviewed sources indicates that M. sylvestris possesses a broad ecological amplitude and a high capacity to persist in various natural and anthropogenic habitats. At the same time, the need for specific studies of the species' population status, phenology, seed productivity, responses to environmental factors, and distribution dynamics under the conditions of Uzbekistan has been identified.
