The article systematises the theoretical foundations of strategies for managing foreign direct investment (FDI) flows and shows the relevance of key FDI theories, including the OLI paradigm and the investment development path, for a host country's strategy. The author defines the concept of an "FDI flow management strategy" and proposes a classification of strategies by seven criteria, including a new criterion, the "degree of outcome linkage". A conceptual model of the strategy and a set of indicators for assessing its effectiveness, applicable to Uzbekistan, are developed.
