The effect of planting schemes on the growth, pod formation and yield of vegetable bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) cultivars
Keywords:
vegetable bean, cultivar, planting scheme, plant density, plant height, number of pods, yieldAbstract
The article examines the effects of different planting schemes on the growth, lateral branch and pod formation, and yield of the vegetable bean cultivars 'Ravot' and 'Mahsuldor'. When plant spacing was increased from 70 × 5 cm to 70 × 25 cm, plant height ranged from 52.6 to 70.9 cm, the number of lateral branches per plant from 3.3 to 6.7, and the number of pods per plant from 13.9 to 31.0. The highest yield was recorded under the 70 × 10 cm planting scheme, reaching 14.7 t ha⁻¹ for 'Ravot' and 16.0 t ha⁻¹ for 'Mahsuldor'.
